What Characters

We, here in Glenwood 5, never call anyone by their actual name. Within five minutes of meeting someone new, they normally have a nickname. It was time to create nicknames for each other. Here are the results:

Meg: Scuttle
You can always count on Meg to be in the know. She knows lots of things about lots of things. Also, the words and phrases that she creates are brilliant and spread to the entire apartment. Case in point: "Flub it to me."

Jules: Mushu
Jules is feisty and the best person to have by your side in a conflict of any sort. The girl doesn't take crap from anyone, even if they are scary, menacing villain types. Also, she's freaking hilarious.

Kristin: Cogsworth
Trust Kristin to be the voice of reason. She keeps us from doing anything illegal, reigns in the ruckus, and has some of the best one-liners in the world. Another possible alias is Zazu.

Shana: Jessie
The girl has spunk. She always knows how to have a good time and dances anywhere at any time. However, you won't get on her bad side if you know what's good for you.

Stacey: Tinkerbell
Stacey is sassy. Don't tick her off. She always looks cute and can be super cuddly. If she likes you, she may chuck some pixie dust your way.

Carlie: Merryweather
Carlie means well, but don't make her mad. It gets noisy and can be extremely messy. If you're on her good side, she will wave her magic wand and good things might be coming your way.

I'll Be There For You...

Remember that song by The Rembrandts that used to permeate the air from the television set once a week?
It's like you're always stuck in second gear/ When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year/ But I'll be there for you/ When the rain starts to pour/ I'll be there for you/ Like I've been there before/ I'll be there for you/ Cuz you're there for me too...
Any of that ringing a bell? Well, thanks to Stacey's sweet boyfriend, Ben, that song is usually heard two, three, four times a day in GlenHood 5 since he got her all ten seasons for Christmas. What a perfect way to bribe ourselves to do homework, mend a broken heart, or just pass the time. Thanks, Ben!

Here's a clip of some of our favorite episodes with the characters we all love:

Meg is 20 today

Today Meg turns 20. She is quickly joining the ranks of those of us who are officially older and wiser. Well, I don't know about the wiser part, but older nonetheless. Here are a few things I love about Meg:
  • She created the first Weekly Wednesday Winner Dinner. Although we sort of slacked off at the end of the semester, for the first half of the semester, it was one of my favorite things about the week.
  • Meg knows more people than anyone I know. 959 Facebook friends? I don't think I'm physically capable of even tolerating that many people, let alone allowing them to be my Facebook friend.
  • Meg has pulled me out of my shell... And when I say that, I mean at all hours of the day and night. I've never been much of a night person, but ever since moving in with Meg, I have learned. Slip and Slide down Old Main Hill at midnight, anyone?
  • I laugh with/at Meg more than anyone else in glenHOOD 5.
  • Meg always lends a shoulder to cry on... even if that happens once every three months whether I need to or not.
  • Meg speaks her mind. She can be cordial to people, but even if I can't read her expression at the time, I know it won't be long before I get a full blown account of what she's thinking.
And the number one reason I love Meg is because she is responsible for my favorite story of fall semester. Any of this ringing a bell, Meggers?
Meg: *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* TELL ME EVERYTHING!!!!! HOW DID IT GO?!?!?!
Me: *Stuttering incoherently* Uh, well, uh, um, he, uh, well, he's still here..... *Blushing sheepishly*
Meg: Oh... ok....
1.5 hours later
Meg: *(Quietly) knock knock knock* (Whispering) Is he still here?
Me: *Huge eye roll* Yup, he's still here.
Meg: Oh, ok. Um, well, I'm gonna be in my room. We'll chat later?
Me: Sure, Meg.

Love ya, gurl!!!! Have a great birthday! We'll celebrate when we're all back in the 'hood in Helltartica.

Love,
Carlie
